Many computer users would like to clean files from their computers but do not know what files to delete. Therefore to avoid deleting the wrong files, the computer is simply left alone to store more and more files. This can cause major problems with your computer. It can start to run slow, popup with error messages, and generally become a confusing and cluttered system. If you do not know what files are safe to remove and delete from your computer, it is extremely important that you find out. There is one basic rule when deleting files from your computer: If you do not know what the files is then leave it alone.

The main thing you might enter the BIOS for is to set the boot order of your devices so you can boot from a cd. You cannot access the BIOS after you have loaded your operating system. See more about the BIOS.

For Windows the system files are usually in a folder named Windows, stored directly in C: drive. My advice to you is not to even look in there. If you accidentally delete a file from there your computer might not work or startup.

Program Files: This is where all the programs you have installed are stored. If you accidentally remove a file from one of these folders you might cause the program to not work. If you want to remove a program you must do it through the control panel in Add or remove programs or programs and features in Vista. You cannot delete individual files hoping to get rid of the program. Some people also think that if they remove or delete the desktop icon that is a shortcut to a program, this also removes the program. This is wrong also.

Lets just say that any file you create, you can delete. If you put a photo onto your computer it is your choice to delete it or not. Deleting this file will not effect the computer and how it runs. So if you created a word document or downloaded an mp3 file then you can delete them when ever you want to. Just make sure you know what you are deleting before you make a mistake. The files you can remove are usually stored in the documents, pictures, or music folders.

How do I safely delete or remove temporary files from my computer?

Every time you do something on your computer a temporary file is created. So if you download a file or even open a document, a temporary file is created. These files can accumulate and need to be cleared from the computer as they have no value to you. There are a number of ways to safely delete these temporary files from your computer.

Follow the major fix for this problem:

In windows Vista, the TCP autotuning feature is enabled by default. Some web servers do not respond properly to this feature, so it appears that some sites open with very slow speed.

To use this feature, you will need to be logged into your computer with administrative rights.

First click on Start button and type CMD in Run option then press Enter.

At Command Prompt, type the following command and press enter.

netsh interface tcp set global autotuninglevel= disabled

This command will disable the TCP autotuning feature. Now close the command Prompt and restart your computer after any changes to go into effect.

You can easily restore these setting by typing the following command at Command Prompt.

netsh interface tcp set global autotuninglevel= normal
Now close the command Prompt and again restart your computer after any changes to go into effect.

It opened every time the computer started. I could understand it coming up the very first time you started Windows Vista, but not every time. So follow the steps below to disable it and stop The Welcome Center from opening at every startup.

In certain versions of Windows Vista you can un-tick a box at the bottom of the Welcomes Center to stop it from opening on startup.

If this is not available try this:

Click the Windows Vista Start Icon in the bottom left corner

Type msconfig in the search box

Click Continue in the User Account Control (another annoying thing)

Click on the Startup Tab

Untick the Show welcome center as pictured below.

Click Apply, then OK

If you need to re-enable The Windows Vista Welcome Center just go back and tick the box again.

You access to Start Menu by clicking the Start button at the left side of the taskbar as in past versions of windows, however in Windows Vista START text is gone and he is replace with Windows logo.

Click the Start Button. If you compare the Start button with earlier versions of Windows you notice that Start Menu looks a bit different but much of it is the same. The left panel of the Start Menu displays the recently opened programs as well as links to all programs installed on the system. The bottom of the left panel includes the search box that’s new in Windows Vista. You can use this box to search for information’s on your computer quickly.

The right panel of the Start Menu contains links to your default folders, recent items you opened and Vista features such as Network Setting, Control Panel and Online Help.

The bottom of right panel contains the yellow Sleep button and the Lock button as well as the list of Log Of options. When you click “All Programs” the list of programs appears on the left panel. This is different arrangement from the Start Menu in past versions of Windows where a popup menu would appear to the right side of All Programs button. In left panel you can scroll up and down and open the program you want, if the program is in a folder double click the folder and the program appears under neat of folder name. If you have the Start Menu opened you can close it by clicking anywhere else on the screen
